This May there is an unusual workshop taking place at 548 metres atop the Randa Mountain. This is the mountain we all see as we drive down the motorway, with its collection of aerials and its distinctive white ball that is part of the airport’s radar system. Beyond the pretty little cobblestone village of Randa, there are a collection of buildings open to the public including a restaurant and picnic area with spectacular views across the island. Presently the buildings are home to Franciscan monks with a retreat and sanctuary for those wishing to stay. The mountain is most renowned as the place where the Spanish visionary Ramon Llull had his vision of Christ, whilst living there as a hermit in a cave in the 14th century. Friends of the sanctuary wish to continue in the spirit of Ramon Llull and his ideals and therefore the location has been host to many workshops of a spiritual nature.
